Nursery décor basics
Designing a nursery for your little one can be extremely enjoyable and fulfilling as an experience. I remember my mother talking about my nursery with such fondness as she designed and decorated it all by herself! I experienced the same joy and satisfaction when I designed a nursery for my niece recently alongwith my sister. I would love to share some of the tips that I kept in mind while designing and decorating the nursery-
Firstly, I had read somewhere that little babies do not have the concept of colour in them. They see the world in black and white. So I made sure that the nursery had a dash of colours. But I also, made it a point that the colours I used in the nursery were subtle and complemented each other. Colours like peach, green, blue are the colours that keep the baby joyful and calm while bold colours can affect baby’s sleep pattern negatively!
Secondly, I made sure that we use non-toxin products in the nursery. The colours of the walls were chosen keeping in mind this very fact. Also, we used eco-friendly laminated countertops in the nursery instead of traditional countertops. These laminates helped us keep the hygiene quotient high in the nursery!
Thirdly, I made sure that the fabrics we used in baby’s crib and even for curtains were soft and in subtle colours. Though, we experimented with textures of the fabrics as I believe that the child could learn a lot by just touching and feeling the texture of different fabrics. It would develop it’s senses a great deal!
Given above are some very basic points that everyone must keep in mind, I feel, while decorating a nursery. However, if you have more suggestions to share please free feel to write here!
