Top five décor quick fixes of the week
Given the amount of hustle and bustle in our daily lives, it is quite natural to feel overwhelmed at times. The average pace of a city life is so hectic that we rarely find time to enjoy and cherish the little things around us, least said and done about our home. Owning that dream home was once our passion, but today when we live there, the passion seems to have settled like the dust particles on the mantelpiece. No, I don’t blame you, rather the problem is with the never ending targets and deadlines that have occupied a greater share of our mind, barely leaving us with the time to spare for home decor and maintenance. However, I believe that merely discussing the problem will do no good. We have to think about the solution. Therefore, here I am with another blog written after much research on some décor quick fixes (just like the ready-to-eat meal options).
Explore more intriguing angles – Rearrange your living room furniture. Place the sofa and chairs diagonally to make a narrow room wide. Remember to pull your furniture away from the wall, not only will it save the wall paint from ugly stain and abrasion, it will also add more profundity to your room. You can use flower corners or beautiful sculpture to decorate these wall-sofa gaps.
Concept wall – Bring it on I say. Do-up one wall in the room in shades and textures you love. Make it the focal point of the room and hang that beautiful painting, your new plasma set, or that lively family picture on. Move a nice piece of furniture there – something like a rocking chair or a modular table. Remember that the textures you use on this wall matches the shades of some of the living room accessories. For example your cushions, curtains or table cloth etc.
Bring in Green – The green impression will add an air of freshness and variety in your room. You can try carnations, money plant, or the very famous Japanese Ikebana arrangement of flowers. If you think it is taking too much to maintain the green impression, you can try the silk plants and trees readily available in the market.
Playing with the mirrors – This has always worked for me. Buy mirrors with ornate frames and hang them at places from where your mirror reflects a striking view of some other area of the house, say your balcony, foyer or the bedroom. You have just managed to do two things in one.
De-clutter – Newspapers, pictures, old magazines, toys and cutouts have a say in taking away the complete personality of the room. Eliminate clutter and keep it tidy at all times.
This goes out to all who think beautiful homes require a lot of monetary and time investment. This is a very wrong notion and only those who have never thought about doing something to revive that old love for their home will believe and practice this. Others will enjoy their free time left after trying out these quick fixes to make their dream homes appear dream like.
